About Us

We are committed to promoting gender equality, women's rights, and youth empowerment. We believe that by working together, we can create a better future for women and youth in our communities and beyond.

Who We Are

WORI is a Ugandan women non-profit organization that has been committed to promoting the rights and empowerment of women and youth in the region for over a decade. Our mission is to empower women and youth to achieve their full potential by providing them with access to education, health care, economic opportunities, and leadership training.

Founded in 2007 by 3 passionate Ugandan women who recognized the urgent need for a platform to address the inequality and discrimination faced by women and youth in their communities, WORI has since grown to become a leading advocate for gender equality and women’s rights in the region. Our work is driven by the belief that every woman and youth has the right to live a life free from violence, poverty, and discrimination.

We work tirelessly to achieve our goals by partnering with local communities, organizations, and government agencies to create sustainable and effective solutions to the challenges facing women and youth. Our programs and initiatives are designed to empower women and youth with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to lead healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives.

Our Approach

At WORI, we believe that empowering women is essential to building strong, healthy communities. Our approach to women’s empowerment and community development is guided by a set of key principles that inform every aspect of our work.

First, we believe in the importance of building strong relationships with the communities we serve. This means engaging in ongoing dialogue with community members, listening to their needs and concerns, and working collaboratively to develop solutions that are culturally appropriate and sustainable.

Second, we recognize the importance of addressing the root causes of gender inequality and poverty. To this end, we prioritize interventions that promote economic empowerment, access to education, and the protection of women’s rights.

Third, we prioritize the participation of women and girls in decision-making processes at all levels, from the household to the community to the national level. We believe that women’s voices and perspectives are essential to creating policies and programs that are effective and equitable.

Finally, we are committed to learning, adapting, and continuously improving our programs and approaches. We regularly assess the impact of our work, and use these findings to inform our strategies and decision-making.
